Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SpendX ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SpendX is a financial management application that helps users track purchases, analyze spending patterns, and identify savings opportunities through receipt analysis and transaction categorization.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.

• You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service
• You must provide accurate and complete registration information
• You may not share your account with others
• You are responsible for all activity under your account

4. Financial Data and Bank Connections

By connecting your bank accounts through our Service:

• You authorize us to access your transaction data through Plaid
• You understand that we securely store encrypted access tokens
• You can revoke access at any time through your account settings
• We will never initiate transactions or move money without your explicit consent

5. Subscriptions and Payments

SpendX offers paid subscription plans processed through Stripe:

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
• You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period
• If a paid week finds less than $7.99 in savings, a paid month less than $29, or a paid year less than $288, we refund the difference. Savings are a cheaper brand, a cheaper pack, or the same item at a cheaper store, on items you bought. The guarantee starts after the free first month (30 days), once a card is linked and the period is itemized: for a month or a year, at least four receipt-worthy shops or at least half of them; for a week, at least half of the receipt-worthy shops that week. Weekly plans are settled each paid week. Monthly plans are settled each paid month. Annual plans are settled at the end of the paid year. A period with no receipts is not refunded.

6. Receipt Upload and Analysis

When you upload receipts:

• You grant us permission to process and analyze receipt images using AI
• Receipt data is stored securely and associated with your account
• We use this data to provide insights and recommendations
• You can delete receipts at any time

7. Usage Limits

To maintain service quality, we implement usage limits based on your subscription plan. Excessive use may result in temporary restrictions or additional charges.

8. Prohibited Activities

You may not:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Upload malicious code or viruses
• Scrape or copy content without permission
• Resell or redistribute the Service

9. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service are owned by SpendX and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Accuracy of financial insights or recommendations
• Specific savings amounts
• Compatibility with all devices or browsers

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Data Security

While we implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
